My skin seems to crawl a little when superstars enter into the last year of their contracts. After how LeBron handled his business leaving Cleveland a few years back, then DeAndre Jordan’s drama this summer, you just never know how players will react when they approach free agency. Dwight Howard of the Houston Rockets is in the last year if his deal but is focus on his season and plans for things to be smooth.
“There’s no need to live in the future. I’m not a guy that lives in the future. The only moment that matters is right now, what we accomplish as a team. It starts with training camp. We just have to work on getting better every day.”
“There’s no need for me to focus on anything that’s going to happen next summer. My job is to focus on how I can help this team be the best team in the NBA and win a championship.”
I know everyone talks like this at the beginning of he season but for some reason I believe Howard will handle this the right way. First and foremost, I feel the Rockets will be a very solid team and adding Ty Lawson might be enough to get them over the edge. Dwight seems happy in Houston and they seem to be pleased with his play. I think a deal will get done and he will re-up with Rockets.
