This Sunday night, WWE will present the one pay-per-view of the year where every title must be defended (which should probably be a rule every PPV but okay), Night of Champions. There is plenty of anticipation for this one as the hottest thing in pro wrestling today, the New Day, take on the returning Dudley Boyz and oh yeah, Seth Rollins has two title defenses in the same night. Let’s take a look at each match and what we can expect to go down.
Seth Rollins vs. John Cena (U.S. Title Match)
Despite the fact that this is the Seth Rollins match that doesn’t have the WWE title involved, all indications point to this being the one main eventing the show, so we’ll start here. The story behind this match is pretty simple, Rollins beat Cena at SummerSlam (THANK YOU STEWART!) to become the first man to hold both the WWE and U.S. titles at the same time.
Since then, Cena has been on a mission to cut promos on Rollins manhood and win back his beloved U.S. title. This being Night of Champions, Rollins was forced to grant Cena his rematch despite already being booked for another match on the same night and well here we are.
So what happens when these two meet on Sunday? If last month’s match was any indication, they will put on an absolute show the second time around in a match that hopefully has Seth Rollins doing a lot of stuff like this.
Rollins has a chance to really cement himself as a legend on Sunday night. By beating two future Hall of Famers in Sting and Cena, Rollins will guarantee himself a main event spot for the rest of his career the same way Chris Jericho did when he beat the Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin in the same night.
But we are talking about a match featuring John Cena trying to get revenge for a loss the previous month, so we know how this one is probably going to end.
LOL CENA WINS.
Keep your fingers crossed that WWE puts Rollins over and cements the kid as a present-day WWE legend. But expect Cena to get his win and title back Sunday night.
