Some stuff you just can’t make up and for better or worse Bellator 149 will feature a main event of Ken Shamrock vs Royce Gracie.
Here’s a brief history lesson in case you aren’t familiar with the Shamrock vs Gracie timeline:
- Gracie submits Shamrock in the semi-final of the MMA tournament at UFC 1 (Nov. 1993).
- The two fight to a draw at UFC 5 (April 1995).
- Shamrock is now 51 years-old and Gracie is a ripe 49 years of age.
Well, now that you’ve caught up on the essentials behind Gracie vs Shamrock we can all appreciate how shocking it is to see these two face off in 2016.

“Wouldn’t you love to watch Mike Tyson fight Holyfield again?” he said. “As long as the guys can do it, man. As long as we can do it, as long as we’re both healthy, we’re both ready to do it. They make it sound like we’re 100 years old, man. They make it sound like, ‘Oh the guys are so old.’ Hey, any given day, man. Let’s go for a run.”
