After getting deeply booed on Draft Day in June of 2015, Kristaps Porzingis is looking to find a home in New York and doesn’t mind the pressure.
The thought of playing in the city of New York is one that many would run away from. The media will rip you apart; just look at the headlines or the back of newspapers. If you have mastered the art of tuning things out, you’re golden here.
Many of you may remember Draft Day in this past June. Many Knicks fans were quick to jump the gun and boo Kristaps Porzingis. Now, many are glorifying him and they have good reason. Porzingis is really aggressive and is playing with his heart on his shoulder. His highlights are becoming a fan favorite as he recently dunked over the Raptors. But don’t be fooled. He knows the expectations and understands fans. The 20-year old rookie is well aware of what there is to overcome.
“The first day I got drafted, I felt the fans were really passionate about basketball and there was going to be a lot of pressure. I knew that, but I wanted to be in New York because I love pressure,” Porzingis told Yahoo Sports. “I knew we could do big things here in the future. If you can succeed in New York, you can succeed anywhere.”
We look forward to see what the rookie will bring to the court this season.
