The circumstances around Manny Pacquiao’s spring fight get more peculiar by the second.
It was first thought that Manny would announce his opponent during the Top Rank fights in early December but he backed away from that commitment. It was then said that two of the favorites to land the fight, Bud Crawford & Amir Khan, were no longer in the running.
That left only Pacquiao-Bardley III for the spring fight, or so we thought.
A week ago Adrien Broner said that the Pacquiao camp reached out to him for the spring fight and while many dismissed it as the usual Broner bragging it turns out that ‘AB’ was speaking the truth.
I wish Adrien [Broner] would not have made the comments he did to the media prematurely. But yes I did personally call him, spoke with him and we discussed the possibility of him facing Manny,” confirmed Pacquiao’s adviser, Michael Koncz.
It makes sense for Pacquiao to pick a fight with a mini-Mayweather (not in talent). Broner will help promote the fight with his loud mouth antics and has proven to be an easy target to hit. If for some reason Broner wins *takes a moment to laugh* it’ll reset what was once a promising career.
