In recent years, we saw two New York Yankees get lavish farewell gifts as well as pre-game ceremonies. Kobe Bryant feels differently and doesn’t want any of that.
The fact that Kobe Byrant requested this doesn’t surprise me at all. Kobe has been very vocal about what he expects from his last season in the NBA. So, if you’re an NBA team looking to honor him, don’t; Kobe is there to play.
Kobe has requested not to have any on-court ceremonies or gift presentations from opposing NBA teams. He does not want to detract from game.

It’s all about business.
So NBA teams wanting to honor Kobe when Lakers visit will be limited to video tributes or private moments. Kobe prefers business as usual.
