It came as a surprise for everybody that Georgia let their coach Mark Richt go, his 154-51 record over the years was more than honorable in a very challenging conference but one man trash is another man’s treasure and that other man is the Miami Hurricanes.
The South Florida school is in the process of hiring a new coach to succeed to Al Golden and according to reports, the job is for the former Georgia coach if he wants it.
Mark Richt is indeed in Miami today and was with Blake in the early afternoon. More than one person thinks the job is his if he wants it.

Mark Richt should jump on this occasion and accept the position, he is an alumni at Miami where he graduated in 1982, he is a homer and fits the profile the Hurricanes are looking for. He knows about the culture and it wouldn’t take him long to fit in. He proved while at Georgia that he had no problem recruiting talent which a school like Miami will allow to continue to do.
Miami went through a rough year under Al Golden so he will be received like a hero similar to a girl having a new boyfriend just after a breakup, the new guy can do no harm. He will have to win to keep that status alive but we know he won at Georgia.
Mark Richt has all the ingredients in Miami to have a successful program besides when you are currently unemployed like he is, an opportunity like this one in South Beach doesn’t come very often and he won’t even have to dwell on his firing . On top of all that, he would have a tough time explaining to his wife why he doesn’t want to coach in sunny Florida making a lot of money.
