Washington Nationals infielder Ryan Zimmerman and Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard are fighting claims that they may have used HGH, steroids or PED’s.
BREAKING: Baseball player Ryan Zimmerman sues Al Jazeera America over alleged defamation: court filing
— Reuters Top News (@Reuters) January 5, 2016
The Phillies’ slugger filed a defamation suit Tuesday night in Federal District Court in Washington, D.C. The suit was filed against the Al Jazeera network and two reporters who worked on a documentary that connected Howard and several other professional athletes to the use of performance enhancing drugs.
The allegations — first brought to light by an Al Jazeera documentary — linked Zimmerman to a clinic that allegedly distributed steroids and HGH.
Zimmerman is suing — but it still remains to be seen if Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning will also sue.
Zimmerman was the first to threaten legal action against the network — and it appears he prepared for the public scrutiny and looks into his personal life.
