Iman Shumpert could be on his way out in Cleveland?
After trading for and giving Shumpert a $40 million deal in free agency — ESPN.com is reporting that Cleveland has been shopping the talented defensive guard — in hopes of an upgrade.
Sources say that the Cavs, though, have been more and more active in recent days in pursuing upgrades to their bench, with center Timofey Mozgov and swingman Iman Shumpert — both in the midst of down seasons after their mid-season arrivals in 2014-15 — said to be available. Players who interest Cleveland, sources say, include dream target Kyle Korver (who would naturally be very difficult to pry from Atlanta) and Kings reserves Ben McLemore and Kosta Koufos.
It would be JR Smith on the trade block if Shumpert was a better scorer — but right now the Cavs need all the offensive punch they can get.
It doesn’t hurt that Smith has found his way into LeBron James’ inner circle.
