Damn Netflix, at it again with the animated series! DreamWorks Animation and Netflix announced they are coming out with a new Voltron series. The new series ‘Voltron: Legendary Defender’ will be released on June 10th. If you’re unfamiliar with the 1984 series, it followed five pilots with giant lion robots that combined to become a super robot and the adventures surrounding that. They also announced the voice cast and it is star-studded. Details via IGN:
The panel also introduced the new voice cast: Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) as Keith; Jeremy Shada (Adventure Time) as Lance; Bex Taylor-Klaus (Arrow) as Pidge; Josh Keaton (Green Lantern: The Animated Series) as Shiro (formerly “Sven”); Tyler Labine (Tucker and Dale vs. Evil) as Hunk; Kimberly Brooks (Mass Effect) as Princess Allura; and Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords) as Coran. Like on the old show, they’ll be going up against the nefarious King Zarkon, voiced by Neil Kaplan (Transformers: Robots in Disguise).
Netflix has big stacks cash that they can throw at just about anything. If there is a niche out there, they will find it and corner the market.
