It’s no secret that the Philadelphia 76ers will pick up Ben Simmons when draft time rolls around but they won’t get the opportunity to see him workout ahead of time.
According to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, he won’t be working out with any teams leading up to draft which takes place on June 23rd. Although the lack of interest in a pre-selection workout isn’t a deal breaker, Sixers president of basketball operation Bryan Colangelo still wants the standout to take the court with the team.
“It’s not a red flag. Everybody deals with the draft process differently. Sometimes agents are involved. Sometimes families are involved in those decisions. Again, everything we get in respect to our intel that it relates to Ben, is he would very much like to be selected No. 1.”
Unless some freak accident takes place, Simmons will be headed to the City of Brotherly Love. It’s not uncommon for draft picks to skip pre-game workouts, even when their handlers have their eyes fixed on other teams.
