This shouldn’t have been hard to figure out at all.
Ricky Williams was an all-time great running back, with a penchant for marijuana. He used it throughout his career, and was suspended multiple times for failing drug tests.
Although he failed his fair share, Williams must’ve passed quite a few, estimating he’s been tested over 500 times throughout his years in the league.
After a third failed test Williams chose to retire just before the 2004 season. He was then reinstated, however forced to sit out the 2006 after fourth & fifth failed drug tests.
From 2008-2011, Williams played with no more suspensions and had arguably the best stretch of his career. He retired for good after the 2011 season as the Dolphins all-time rushing leader with over 10,000 rushing yards.
Williams’ struggles with the NFL’s substance abuse policy will be chronicled in a new SI Films documentary Ricky Williams Takes The High Road, which will premiere Wednesday on SI.com.
