This may have nothing to do with the domestic violence culture centered around Baylor university, but it’s still a black eye for a football program that is reeling.
In a graphic video obtained by News Channel 25 Ishmael Zamora, a wide receiver for the Bears, was seen abusing his dog.
The video was shared on another Baylor player’s Snapchat.
In the video, you can hear the dog let out a yelp in pain after being hit with a belt, before being kicked, yelled and cursed at.
Former Baylor student, Shelby Ball, said she knew she had to take action as soon as she saw the video.
“I went to authorities probably about two hours after I saw the video,” Ball said. “Dogs can’t speak for themselves… I felt like something needed to be done.”
Ball reportedly went to Animal Control and the Baylor Police Department with the video of Zamora.
Zamora said that he was only trying to disciple his dog, and not harm him.
“I lost my temper trying to discipline him,” Zamora said. “I’ve been through training with a dog trainer to help me learn new potty training tips.”
Zamora was charged with a Class C misdemeanor and given a citation that could cost up to $500.
