Some have tried to blame Nessa for Kaepernick’s change in perspective, but regardless if you believe that or not, she fully supports what he is doing.
Here is what she had to say to Bossip.
It takes a lot of heart, a lot of courage to do what he did. I think it’s important that we all have this open dialogue, so that we can take actual steps to make our country a better place. And what’s amazing about this is that Colin is able to exercise his freedom of speech. That’s one of the great things about being an American. I’m very happy for Colin that he was able to do that, and able to have the heart to do something that a lot of people are too scared to do.
He’s very strong. He knew that this is something that a lot of people probably don’t want to talk about. But someone has to talk about it. And it comes from the heart.
I truly feel that if people took the time to understand what he was saying — truly — I think that they would realize that this is someone who wants the best for all of us. And, he wants America great, because we’re proud to be Americans and to have rights like freedom of speech. So I support him, and I’m happy.
It doesn’t appear this situation is going away any time soon, so we have to see how it plays out.
