The Jets always seem to have quarterback issues for some odd reason. While Ryan Fitzpatrick is their starter, the question remains of who is their second quarterback, Bryce Petty or Christian Hackenberg.
As the Jets get ready to face the Browns this Sunday, the only thing on their mind is a win. To their advantage, the Browns are 0-7 and are perhaps having the worst season ever. However, they could capitalize on the Jets’ quarterback situation and win on Sunday. Ryan Fitzpatrick will be starting for the Jets but the biggest question is, who will be their second man? Both have terrific reasons but here’s why Bryce Petty should be their second man.
Jets head coach Todd Bowles declined to say which player stood out the most but his comments have been directed towards Petty.
“He’s just got to get a lot of reps, that’s all,” Bowles said of Petty, adding that he has no physical limitations from his injury
Petty did get some minor play time during the preseason as fans were going wild because they lost faith in Geno Smith and Fitzpatrick.
Petty was drafted by the Jets last year and has waited a long time for this moment. He has been throwing the ball better. While at Baylor, he posted up some impressive numbers and even took his team to the Big 12 Championship. Petty is the man who should be named his second quarterback.
But as of this moment, he’s just waiting for that call. It also depends on the Jets playoff contention. They stand currently at 2-5.
