CM Punk was very honest & forthright on today’s episode of the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani. The now 0-1 UFC fighter has returned to training at RoufusSport, after a quick break to watch the Cubs win the World Series, and plans on returning to the cage sooner than later.
When asked whether his next fight will be in the UFC Punk had this to say, “To me, yeah, but that’s up to Dana. I had a good conversation with him and I told him if you want to cut me, yeah, I get it but I’m fighting whether it’s for you or somebody else.”
“I told him (Dana) I want to fight again… It’s up to him. He floated me an idea and we we’re kind of going back and forth with it now. I’m at the point where I want to get something on paper. You may hear an announcement in the coming weeks.”
When asked when he thinks he’ll be ready to step back into the octagon, Punk surprised Helwani with his timetable. “Maybe January or February,” said Punk. “It all depends who it is, where it is.”
