You know what they say about second place, its the first place loser, so imagine chasing behind the shadow of the league’s biggest star and champion. The Raptors are easily the second best team in the East, but can’t seem to get over the hump of beating Lebron and the Cavs. While the Raptors haven’t loss by more than five points in the four times they’ve played the champs, Raptors star, DeMar DeRozan, believes his team has the confidence to be in comparison to the Cavs and will catch them soon.
…Especially what we accomplished last year, showing all we did wasn’t a fluke. We went six games with the NBA champions. We won a franchise record in games. We accomplished so much. And it seems we still don’t get our just due, like it was an accident. We’ve been getting better every single year. And I think that’s been our motivation every time we go out there and play, no matter who we play against. We are a team that should be respected like all the other top teams in the league.
That’s our next development of being a team like Cleveland, understanding that last possession, how great you’ve got to execute, how bad you may need a stop. We’re getting there. And I think that’s our next step. Once we get there, we’re going to be even more dangerous.
The Raptors face off with the Warriors tonight, a team thats pretty tough to beat. Will beating them give them confidence that they can take on anyone, even finally defeating the Cavs?
