A press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of California announced Kevin Lee Co’s guilty plea on December 8, with the Sacramento Business Journal reporting that about $1 million of the stolen funds was spent on the mobile game Game of War, as spotted by Kotaku.
Co worked for Holt of California as the company’s accounting department manager and embezzled funds from 2008 through March 2015. He also, according to the Attorney’s Office, “engaged in a money laundering scheme” to hide where the stolen money was coming from.
He is looking at 20 years in jail.
