With hosting duties on a number of regularly scheduled shows, Nick Cannon is one of the hardest working man in showbiz. But in the near future, he may have one less to worry about.
On Monday, in a lengthy post on both his Instagram and Facebook page, Cannon alleges his bosses at NBC hit show American’s Got Talent threatened him after hearing of racially tinged jokes he made during a filming of his upcoming comedy special. Cannon believes he is being silenced and says he will walk away from the show before compromising creative integrity.
I was being threatened with termination by Executives because of a comedy special that was only intended to bring communities closer together, I was to be punished for a joke. This has weighed heavy on my spirit. It was brought to my attention by my “team” that NBC believed that I was in breach of contract because I had disparaged their brand.
I was quoted in a recent interview, “You can’t fire a Boss!” and that is the essence that I possess. So I wish AGT and NBC the best in its upcoming season but I can not see myself returning.
The offending jokes have yet to be revealed since the special hasn’t aired.
America’s Got Talent is among NBC’s top rated shows so it’s safe to assume Cannon’s integrity is worth A LOT of money.
