Justice has been served in Georgia.
A Judge in Douglas County took steps to ensure a statement was made about hate-crime cases that fall in his lap.
Superior Court Judge William McClain sentenced 25-year-old Kayla Rae Norton to 15 years, with 6 to serve in prison; and 26-year-old Jose Ismael Torres to 20 years with 13 to serve.
The lengthy sentences were handed down after Norton & Torres perpetuated what Judge McClain called ‘hate crimes’ against a Black family celebrating an 8-year old’s birthday party, where they waved Confederate flags and called black children niggers.
Here is a police statement from that incident:
And here is the video:
After crying while listening to his family members plead with the court, Torres exited without a word, however Norton took it upon herself to address the families she’d just been convicted of terrorizing:
“I do accept responsibility for what I’ve done,” Norton said, often choking on her words as she spoke directly to the group. “What happened to you is absolutely awful. From mother to mother, I cannot imagine having to explain what that word means. “The worst decision I’ve ever made in my life was to not walk away when I had the chance,” Norton said.
The two were apart of a pickup truck brigade terrorizing two different counties over July 24th and 25th, going on drunken rampages causing 911 calls wherever they stopped, according to Assistant D.A. David Emadi.
They threatened African-Americans in their cars with guns, as well as threatening a Black shoppers at a Walmart & strip mall.
Refreshing to see people are starting to take these terroristic situations as serious as they are. Better this than a civil war breaking out.
