During a performance at The Whiting in Flint, MI on Wednesday, Chappelle announced to the crowd that he was giving his entire night’s pay, $50K, to a local charity since he missed their last benefit show due to attending the Oscars with Chris Rock.
In video obtained by TMZ, Chappelle makes the announcement while the crowd stands and cheers. Isaiah Oliver, CEO of Community Foundation of Greater Flint, the recipient of the donation told TMZ that the money will help children exposed to lead in Flint’s water supply.
Chappelle revealed during his recent Netflix special that he was at the award show with Rock. $50K, and sincerity, brings a lot of forgiveness. Judging by the applause from crowd, everything is all good.
