The argument can be made Olajuwon was a better player than Duncan at their best. But 20x Better?! That’s flat disrespectful from Big Shot Bob.
Robert Horry joined The Jump to detail how the mid 90’s Rockets would defeat the Bulls had Jordan not retired (A stance which I agree with) Things then took a quick turn for the worse.
Robert Horry is a 7-time champion and played with both guys when they won their championships. His opinion on this topic as well as his blazer selection is extremely questionable.
Personally, I take Duncan for longevity, accomplishments and impact on the game overall. The resume clearly favors Duncan, he’s a 5-time champion, 3-time Finals MVP and league MVP twice. The X-factor for me is his role in taking on the best players from 2 different generations. No one else aside from Duncan can stake claim to defeating Shaq & Kobe’s Lakers at their peak powers as well as the Miami Heat in the midst of their streak of four consecutive finals appearances.
This is no disrespect to Olajuwon. Hakeem was as cold as they came as far as footwork on offense and his ability to shut down the paint defensively. To hit on the original topic, the mid 90’s Bulls had no answers for Hakeem and the Rockets matched up very well with Chicago. Woud’ve probably made for Jordan’s biggest challenge in the 90’s.
