Yesterday the Chicago Bears faced off against the New Orleans Saints in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Early in the second half the Bears’ Mitchell Trubisky targeted tight end Zach Miller in the corner of the end zone for a touchdown that would be ridiculously overturned, but that’s not the story. The story is the gruesome injury endured by Miller.
Miller received extensive medical attention from the training staff before being carted off the field in New Orleans and taken to have urgent surgery.
Earlier today it was reported by ESPN’s Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter that the urgent surgery that took place was an effort to save his leg from amputation. Reports say that vascular surgeons were called in to take part in the surgery which included grafting tissue from one leg to the other to repair the damaged artery in his left leg.
