To say Kenyon Martin isn’t a fan of Jeremy Lin’s faux dreadlocks is an understatement. But Lin appears to be ok with Martin’s commentary.
In a recorded video rant, Martin says Lin should change his hair and be reminded of his Asian last name. Nothing wrong with having an opinion about cultural appropriation but Martin should recognize his mis-step since he has Asian writing tattoos on his arm.
Will Martin have that same energy when he goes in for tattoo removal?
After speaking in length about his hair in a post for The Players Tribune, Lin opted to respond to Martin’s comments on his Instagram account by taking the high ground.
“Actually i legit grateful you sharing it tbh. At the end of the day i appreciate that i have dreads and you have Chinese tattoos bc i think its a sign of respect. And i think as minorities, the more we appreciate each others cultures, the more we influence mainstream society. Thanks for everything you did for the nets and hoops…had your poster up on my wall growin up.”
After feeling the heat, Martin backtracked by posting a second video saying it was all just a joke.
