Okay, now Mo’Nique where are you going with this one?
Earlier this week comedian Mo’Nique called for a boycott of Netflix. After she was offered a low amount for a special set to be aired on Netflix. The comedian said she is experiencing color and gender bias from the streaming company.
Now while she has a point to fight for what she feels she deserves, you can’t burn your bridges in doing so.
Mo’Nique has the support of fellow comedian Wanda Sykes and actress Jada Pinkett- Smith, whom she addresses in the video. The video clip posted on social media begins with the comedian calling out Oprah.
Yes, Oprah Winfrey. Now this all started with what was in Mo’Nique’s opinion a low ball offer. Her comparison of another comedian-Amy Schumer’s offer of $11 million is what put the wheels in motion.
With her heart set on the support of her peers, fans and others in entertainment, Mo’Nique sets her aim on Oprah. This comedian doesn’t seem to be for all the extra hype around Oprah.
Here’s why..
After the huge buzz of a potential presidential run for Oprah. The comedian says, Winfrey has a lack of supporting black women.
“See everybody talking Oprah Winfrey for president and we are rallying behind her” Mo’Nique said. “The black women are saying yeah yeah yeah but let me ask y’all a question. when does she ever rally behind us? What award show does she get up on the stage and say hashtag me too?”
Umm, I guess it’s safe to say Mo’Nique means business. Do you agree with her comments?
