An ex-Davis High School teacher has been arrested after authorities discovered a marriage license application for the teacher and one of her students.
10 ABC KTEN reports that investigators began targeting White after receiving a tip from a parent in November. The tipster told authorities that she suspected the teacher may be having an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old male sophomore at Davis High School where she taught English.
“Back on November 29th, we received a call of a possible inappropriate relationship between a Davis schoolteacher and a Davis student,” said Davis police Chief Dan Cooper. “At that time we started an active investigation on it.”
White resigned from her position after police moved forward with launching a full-scale investigation into her actions. Soon after, according to court records, investigators discovered that White filed for a marriage license with the unidentified student.
Records indicate the boy’s father gave permission for the marriage to take place.
White faces four charges of soliciting sexual conduct or communication with a minor using technology, a criminal felony.
