It appears that the long awaited question as to whether Dez Bryant will be a wide receiver with the Dallas Cowboys next season will finally be answered. It’s being reported by 105.3 The Fan, that Dez could potentially be cut:
According to a source close to the G-Bag Nation on 105.3 The Fan, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will meet with Dez Bryant on Friday to discuss the receiver’s contract.
The timing couldn’t be any more important as the team will hold their first official workout on Monday.
105.3 The Fan’s Mike Fisher reported on Tuesday that the Cowboys could be prepared to say goodbye to Bryant in that meeting.
“The ‘Dump Dez’ concept was born about two months ago, when Cowboys COO Stephen Jones openly noted that Bryant’s contract needed to “be addressed.’
Braynt is making $12.5 million base salary and count for $16.5 million against the cap. That salary is just not inidicative of who Dez Braynt is at this point of his career. He has had a steady decline since securing a new contract back in 2014. He hasn’t broken 90 receptions or 1,00 receiving yards since the 2013 season and has faced a number of injuries in the past few seasons that have also slowed him down.
Stephen Jones has also mentioned that the decision whether to keep Bryant will most likely be done by Jerry Jones. It will be interesting to see how the meeting with Jerry will go as we have not heard whether Dez will be open to restructuring his deal to remain with Dallas. The Cowboys have signed wide receivers Allen Hurns and Deonte Thompson during the offseason to help out with the current group. Flip the page to hear from Stephen Jones regarding Dez.
