According to Former Nevada Senator Harry Reid, Floyd Mayweather knew Canelo Alvarez was doping prior to their fight in 2013. The claim comes courtesy of Bad Left Hook, stating Floyd kept hush ahead of the fight in fear of ruining the bag.
On the heels of the highly anticipated Canelo Alvarez GGG being canceled after positive steroids test from Canelo, here’s what Harry Reid had to say
“Mayweather always felt Canelo was on something. He said, ‘I’m gonna go ahead and fight him.’ Mayweather was interested in money and he thought it would hurt the purse. He went ahead and fought the guy and toyed with him.”
It should be noted Floyd won the 2013 fight by 12-round majority decision in rather convincing fashion. Always the businessman first and foremost, it makes sense that Mayweather would bet on his abilities rather than risk a giant payday.
“Temporarily” suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission, Canelo’s name has been run through the mud in boxing circles.
