Johnetta Benton has probably given one of her last history lessons as a sixth-grade social studies teacher at Hampton Middle School.
Last February, according to the Atlanta Black Star, Benton had a very special lesson plan for the first day of Black History Month. For nearly 15 minutes, Benton went on a rant where she suggested that President Trump was pushing for a return to segregation, and accused the white students in her class of being the descendants of European mass murderers…amongst other things.
Because Europeans came from Europe, you are immigrants…You are illegal immigrants.
Benton was so fired up during her speech, that she did not noticed that one of her students was also recording her for the entire 15 minutes.
Josie Orihuela, the sixth-grader that recorded Benton, went home and played the recording to her mom, and her Mom got so mad that she pulled Josie from the school all-together.
Fox News wasted no time in exploiting Josie for the details. And fortunately for Fox, Josie’s Mother Kimberly Orihuela considers herself as a member of the “Silent Majority.”
J.D. Hardin, the Commuicatios Director for the Henry County School District, provided a statement to Fox News:
…This unfortunate incident affords us the opportunity to remind our educators of the importance of keeping any potential political bias out of lessons for students of any age.
