Anthony Wall, 22, dropped his 16-year-old sister off at prom Saturday night.
After dropping her off, Wall decided to go to Waffle House in Warsaw, North Carolina.
According to Vice News, a patron called 911, and an employee hit a panic alarm, after Wall became verbally abusive to the Waffle House employees.
Anthony says he had a disagreement with the Waffle House staff prior to the Police encounter; however, he takes full responsibility for his role in the argument with the employees.
What is not adding up is why this responding Warsaw Police Officer felt like it was necessary or appropriate to lift Wall up by his throat and slam Wall into the ground when it’s not even entirely clear that Wall was actually being physically abusive, to any person, in any way.
Wall was just trying to survive the assault:
I was pretty much trying to scream for air and trying to breathe because he was holding my throat, and that’s when I got aggressive with him because you are choking me.
Warsaw Police Chief Eric Sutherland provided a statement on the incident to ABC11:
We are currently investigating the whole incident, interviewing witnesses and gathering additional video. We have also reached out to the District Attorney’s Office to make him aware of the investigation. Once the investigation is complete and the District Attorney has had a chance to review the case we will provide the public with an update on the findings.
It’s difficult to discern what Chief Sutherland is investigating here because all we have is a HD video of a cop, twice the size of Wall, grasping him by the throat until he’s choking, in response to an argument.
