An emotional DeMarcus Cousins spoke to ESPN’s Marc Spears within the past few hours, and Boogie told Spears that he feels some type of way about NBA teams not being interested in him at all during free agency.
According to Boogie, he got zero offers.
Zero.
Adrian Wojnarowski came on later to essentially say that Boogie should view this situation as a reality check.
Per Woj, several teams had the cap space to sign Boogie, and simply did not want him in their locker room.
Not to mention, there’s the whole coming back off an achilles injury thing.
All of these factors culminated together and ultimately led to Boogie signing this one-year show-me-something deal with the Golden State Warriors for the mid-level exception (only $5.3 million).
In sum, Boogie was looking for commitment and a potential max deal, and the rest of the NBA was apparently just looking for a side piece.
Boogie told Spears that signing with the Warriors was his “chest move” or his “ace that he didn’t expect to play, but had to play.”
Flip the pages to hear the emotional interview of Boogie Cousins with Marcus Spears; Woj saying that teams just don’t want to be bothered with Boogie in the first place; and Boogie officially announcing he’s moving to the Bay.
