Colt McCoy, who has attempted 11 passes in the past 3 seasons, has signed an extension with Washington to return as the primary backup to Alex Smith. The deal is expected to reach up to $7 million with incentives.
The #Redskins and QB Colt McCoy have agreed to terms on a 1-year extension worth up to $7M, source said. It contains a void & buyback provision. Interesting.

This extension can become no extension at all if it makes sense for McCoy. If he does hit the void criteria, depending on other factors, the Skins can buyback for 6 different amounts based on playing time percentage and performance. https://t.co/GJgK8FTwIn

Despite being 32 years old, McCoy does not possess a wealth of in-game experience, having appeared in 14 games in his previous 5 seasons played. During that span, he has accounted for 7 combined touchdowns. While it’s well understood quarterbacks are paid on another tier in respect to the rest of the league, Washington’s season will be in dire straits if McCoy is forced into action.
By this point it appears Colin Kaepernick’s collusion case evidence bin is filled to capacity. McCoy joins the list of notable NFL Quarterbacks holding jobs as professional clipboard holders over Kaepernick.
