Nike has announced their partnership with Colin Kaepernick with an ad and commercial celebrating 30 years of their Just Do It campaign. Obviously this situation has turned into another controversy surrounding the social issues and reform that Kaepernick was initially protesting that MAGA population hijacked into disrespect for the flag and the country.
The latest organization to speak out against Nike’s campaign is the National Associations of Police Organization (NAPO) who according to TMZ in a letter:
the National Association of Police Organizations fired off a letter to Nike saying the Kaep ad “grossly insults the men and women who really do make sacrifices for the sake of our nation.”
NAPO added, “We are calling on all our member officers, their families and friends to join in boycotting all Nike products.”
The organization is calling for a boycott because they are offended by a protest that ironically is calling for them to address the disproportionate number of minority individuals that are being murdered. Appear ot be highly tone deaf and the National Black Police Association (NBPA) is speaking against the call to boycott by NAPO.
TMZ is reporting:
“The National Black Police Association is not in agreement with NAPO on this matter, and we strongly condemn their call for police officers and their families to boycott Nike and its products,” the letter says.
“Your inclusion of Mr. Kaepernick in your ads seems appropriate to us. We live in a country where the 1st Amendment is a right of the people.”
“The NBPA believes that Mr. Kaepernick’s stance is in direct alignment with what law enforcement stands for — the protection of a people, their human rights, their dignity, their safety, and their rights as American citizens.”
The NBPA agrees that Kaepernick has sacrificed his career to lead a geater cause to find equality for all of American people. They commend Nike and their partnership with Kaepernick and adds that they will be in fact supporting Nike by buying their products as opposed to calling for a boycott.
