Oscar De La Hoya was in jovial spirits on Thursday night as his top signee Canelo Alvarez picked up some new hardware.
Thursday night in Los Angeles, Ring Magazine honored Canelo with the Ring Magazine middleweight and pound-for-pound belts. At the conclusion of the award ceremony, De La Hoya fielded questions on Canelo’s new monster $365M deal with DAZN and Floyd Mayweather’s most recent trolling on social media with the old photo in the fishnets.
De La Hoya had some pretty harsh words for Mayweather in return calling him a “lowlife,” and goes on to say Canelo will go to enjoy his lucrative contract and fight the best.
Then goes on to say he and Canelo would like a rematch of their May 2013 fight, but at 160lb.
The war of words between De La Hoya and Mayweather has to be considered the boxing’s Hatfields vs the McCoys at this point.
