This week, Kevin Hart decided to step down from hosting the 2019 Academy Awards because of tweets that were found from 2009 that were considered homophobic. Hart didn’t apologize because he said he already apologized for these tweets in the past.
Nick Cannon decided to test the waters of white privlege with white comedians and dug up some old homophobic tweets from the likes of Amy Schumer, Chelsea Handler, and Sarah Silverman. He quoted each tweet with a reply of his own calling out the fact that they should be criticized the same way people have for Hart.
Handler posted a tweet that said “This is what a fag bird likes when he flexes.” Silverman tweeted “I dont mean this in a hateful way but the new bachelorette’s a faggot.” Schumer tweeted “Enjoy skyfall fags. I’m bout to get knee deep in Helen Hunt #thesessions.”
It’ll be interesting to see if these comedians address these old tweets and if they get canceled and stripped of any upcoming opportunities. They sadly probably won’t since they’re white women in America but props to Nick Cannon on providing the double standard and privilege.
