Cardi B continued to prove why she’s one of the most dominant rappers in the game last night. She became the eighth female rapper to win a Grammy for Best Rap Album with “Invasion of Privacy“. Her success continues to create Nicki Minaj vs Cardi debates as to who is the best female rapper out.
BET continued that debate as they tweeted out an article on Cardi winning her award with the tweet caption being “Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj is being dragged by her lace front.” Nicki caught wind of the tweet and clapped back by cancelling them in a major way.
Nicki said that herself and other members at Young Money will not perform at the BET Awards this June as a result of that tweet. That includes the BET Experience shows prior to the awards. This could pave the way for Cardi to shine at the BET Awards as well.
This wasn’t smart by BET at all. They could’ve just congratulated Cardi without throwing shade at Nicki. Now, they lost a huge act for their awards show. It’ll be interesting to see if Nicki ends up changing her mind though. BET might have to cut an even bigger check for that to happen though.
