Over the past couple of weeks, the whispers started to get louder surrounding a potential trade centered around superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. The San Francisco 49ers were reportedly in the running and so were the Cleveland Browns.
However, Browns General Manager John Dorsey pulled it off.
Beckham’s great friend and former LSU teammate Jarvis Landry broke the news to him.
Just got off the phone w/ OBJ. Odell Beckham told me after he & I discussed what I heard about #Browns trade talk that Jarvis Landry called him & said t/ GM & the HC want you bad. Next thing you know, OBJ said Dave Gettleman called him and said "I am trading you to the #Browns."

Nonetheless, everything isn’t sweet.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, OBJ will want a contract upgrade like Antonio Brown got with Oakland.
Antonio Brown received a contract upgrade when he was traded to the #Raiders. The expectation is that Odell Beckham Jr will want one, as well. Some issues to work out for Cleveland.

There’s three years remaining on Beckham’s five-year $90 million deal. On the flip side, there will be no guaranteed money on his deal after the 2020 season.
So, expect Beckham to get a lovely new reconstructed deal soon.
