It’s hard to get a triple-double on any level.
Oregon junior Sabrina Inoescu though has made getting triple-doubles a habit throughout her time in Eugene.
She has notched 18 career triple-doubles in her career, an NCAA record male or female.
She achieved her latest one Sunday night at home in the second round in a 91-68 blowout of 10th seed Indiana to advance to the Sweet 16.
The triple double although it didn’t come without controversy.
Inoescu, multi-time Pac-12 Player of the Year, missed a three-point shot late to get her 10th rebound and secure a 29 point, 12 assist, 10 rebound night.
The kicker?
She missed the three-point shot on purpose and admitted such to Dave Pasch of ESPN after the game when asked if she missed on purpose saying,
“A little bit. I knew exactly where it was gonna go so I was like ‘let me just kinda add a little bit more rotation on this shot so I can get it back.”
Ok.
Later in the evening she goes on to blast ESPN for the lack of coverage of her record 18th triple-double.
Only problem is, Inoescu has been featured prominently several times on ESPN, including sit down interviews with the network’s Holly Rowe specifically discussing her triple-double record.
So either Inoescu has a terrible memory or she is real chasing that ESPN clout a little too much.
