Details on Adrien Broner Plea Deal in Case Where He Forcibly Kissed Woman at the Club

Last summer, Adrien Broner continued to have trouble with legal issues as he forcibly kissed a woman at a Cleveland nightclub. This was after an NBA Finals game between the Cavaliers and Warriors. Today, Broner was able to avoid jail time by pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges and got hit with probation, per Dan Rafael of ESPN and Cleveland.com.

Broner dodged a bullet as he was originally scheduled to go to trial yesterday on felony charges of gross sexual imposition and abduction. The misdemeanor charges are assault and unlawful restraint. Common Pleas Court Judge Sherrie Miday was going to put Broner in jail for six months but suspended the sentence. The probation will last for two years.

Broner will have to serve his probation in Broward County, FL. Luckily for him, that’s where he trains. The judge also hit Broner with a $1,000 fine and had to pay the victim $4,200 in medical bills.

“While confident in a successful outcome at trial, Mr. Broner opted to accept the significantly reduced misdemeanor plea so that he could immediately return to focus on his professional career free from further distraction,” said Ian Friedman, Broner’s attorney.

Broner recently suffered a tough loss to Manny Pacquiao as well. Hopefully the legal issues can finally be put behind him to realize his full potential as a boxer.
