Trying to hunt down animals for sport will always come with consequences. That was the case at a South African national park for a suspected rhino poacher, according to The Hill.
Park authorities said they found the man’s remains as he was supposedly killed by an elephant. His remains were soon eaten by a group of lions. This was at Kruger National Park.
The family of the man had told police about him being missing and a search party was then sent out. His body was found on April 4. He had four accomplices with him as well. Managing Executive of Kruger National Park, Glenn Phillips, issued a statement about the poacher’s death and offered condolences to the family.
“Entering Kruger National Park illegally and on foot is not wise, it holds many dangers and this incident is evidence of that,” Phillips said in a press release. “It is very sad to see the daughters of the [deceased] mourning the loss of their father, and worse still, only being able to recover very little of his remains.”
The four accomplices of the poacher are now in custody. They will have a court date set soon. Flip the page for news video regarding the incident.
