How 49ers Draft Pick Dre Greenlaw Saved a Woman from Potentially Being Date Raped While at Arkansas; How The Girl’s Father Wants The World to Know What a Good Person He Is (Tweets)

Everyday we’re reminded that there are still some very good people in this world.

Dre Greenlaw was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the 5th round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The story was came with him after he was drafted is nothing short of amazing.

Gerry Daly came out with a story on how Greenlaw saved his daughter from a problem that happens far too often.

Daly’s daughter had been taken to the emergency room, incapacitated and under the influence of what was believed to be alcohol. Tests, however, showed she had been drinking at the party she had attended, but she wasn’t drunk.

“She couldn’t walk, and when she tried to talk, it sounded like ‘tsk .., tsk,’ ” Daly said. “She wasn’t in any danger, so we took her home to monitor her.”

What caused her to behave this way? Something that any parent with a child, especially a daughter, fears when they go off to college.

It took a few days for the Dalys to piece together what had happened to their daughter via text messages from her friends. All she could remember was talking with a guy at the party, and then waking up in the hospital with a few of her girlfriends around her. Eventually, the family came to the conclusion that the male had slipped something into her drink, causing her incapacitation.

Now this type of situation has endings that can be nothing short of disastrous. But this ending was kept away from tragedy, thanks to the great acts of a then current Arkansas University football player.

Daly also discovered that the man tried to take his daughter from the party, but he was thwarted by a Razorbacks football player and his friend. If not for them, there’s no telling what might happened.

That football player was Dre Greenlaw, whom the 49ers selected Saturday in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Greenlaw knew who Daly’s daughter was and stepped in before she was taken away from the potential evil acts of that man.

Daly however said he didn’t come forward with the story in fear due to potential consequences that might’ve have came to Greenlaw.

That could be seen as a violation by Greenlaw, and Daly didn’t want to risk that for a player who appeared to risk much for his daughter. If the confrontation at the party had escalated into a fight, Greenlaw could have been suspended or even kicked off the team.

As soon as Greenlaw was drafted though, Daly came out with the story in which many people didn’t even know about. Even the team that drafted him didn’t know about it. But I’m sure it was a welcome sight for the 49ers’ front office and coaching staff to know that they got a good football player and even more importantly, a great person.

Extreme kudos to Greenlaw for the actions to took to make sure Daly’s daughter didn’t have an awful ending that comes with situations like these.
