Cracker Barrel wanted to have an event with a preacher who they thought preached intellectual sermons but the Tennessee preacher Grayson Fritts’ recent statement has caused the chain to cancel the event.
In a statement by Fritts, he preached that anyone in the LGBT community should be executed by the government. He also said they are “worthy of death” and wants a riot at the Pride parade set for June 22 in Knoxville. Before his preaching days, Fritts was a former detective. With this statement, prosecutors have opened up an investigaton on his old cases.
Cracker Barrel made a statement that they do not support the words of Frittz and welcome everyone and anyone.
“We serve everyone who walks through our doors with genuine hospitality, not hate, and require all guests to do the same.”
Not the first time this food chain had controversy when it comes to the LGBT community. Back in 1991, 11 employees were dismissed because they did not follow “heterosexual values” policy. Gay rights group protested and the company said it was a mistake and changed the policy claiming they do not discriminate against sexual orientation. The company has also been under investigation for race and gender discrimination.
