Luminaries from the worlds of sports and entertainment gathered in Beverly Hills for the 19th annual Harold and Carole Pump Foundation Gala.
The annual event, to raise funds and create awareness for the treatment and cure of cancer, honored Cedric the Entertainer, Jerry Rice, Pete Rose, Mike Tyson, and Dr. Richard Merkin for their commitment and support of a variety of philanthropic causes.
Speaking to BSO on the red carpet, Cedric the Entertainer explained how event founders David and Dana Pump inspired him to become seriously involved with the fight against cancer.
“David and Dana Pump are some good friends of mine, and I’ve been with them for many years watching them build this [event] up.
They’re sincere about what they are doing, I’ve been to the wing of the hospital in their parent’s name.
Watching them be big contributors to the fight against cancer donating big sums of money to doctors and research motivated me to do the same.”
In addition to the night’s honorees, the star-studded event boasted a who’s who of athletes and entertainers including Shaquille O’Neal, Sugar Ray Leonard, Evander Holyfield, Akbar Gbajabiamilla, Smokey Robinson, Omarosa Manigault-Newman and more.
