Led by Dak Prescott and his four touchdown passes, the Cowboys dominated the New York Giants Sunday afternoon 35-17.
For a deep and talented Cowboys team, Sunday’s win was an important one as they look to defend their NFC East title.
Ezekiel Elliott had 13 carries for 53 yards and a rushing touchdown, but the day belong to his quarterback.
Prescott, entering his fourth season with the Cowboys, went 25-32 for 405 yards, and 4 touchdowns, and had a perfect passer rating.
The Mississippi St. product is looking for a new contract extension from the Cowboys in excess of $30 million per season, and after his performance Sunday it appears that Jerry Jones is ready to get things done quickly.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed confidence that a new contract for Prescott is “imminent.”
Pro Football Talk’s Charean Williams additionally quotes Jones saying,
“Oh, yes, I do know that we’ll get it done. It would probably be fair to say it’ll be done on a imminent basis. Imminent. Without being real clear, bright lined. It’s not done. What’s imminent? Well, days. Days. Or something like that.”
Time is of the essence for the Cowboys as the better Prescott performs, the larger the price tag becomes.
For Prescott he couldn’t have started his 2019 campaign any better.
