The Brooklyn Nets had their media today and everyone finally got to here from new Net Kyrie Irving.
Per usual, he gave very long, and somewhat thoughtful answers.
Kyrie was asked about teaming up with Kevin Durant and Deandre Jordan and says that he KD and DJ has a conversation at 4:16 in the morning to talk about their futures and how comfortable it was after they announced they were signing.
Since he’s now teammates with KD, he was asked about his Achilles injury. He feels that even though KD said he wanted to play, a lot of people are responsible for his injury. Says that we all knew KD wasn’t ready but the Warriors put him out on the court to sell a product instead of thinking what’s best for him.
One if the main things everyone wanted to know is what happened in Boston that led to him wanting to leave after he said he wanted to be there.
For that answer, he gave an 809 word answer. Extremely long but what else is expected from him.
The overall synopsis of his answer is that he was dealing with the death of his grandfather and thought being in a team environment would help but it didn’t.
He does mention that he failed his teammates because he didn’t give his all.
Kyrie remains one of the most interesting guys in the NBA and sometimes I feel like he gives very long answers because he thinks the longer the answer the smarter it sounds.
