Some US states still have a lot of weird laws in place. One of the weirder ones is North Carolina’s Alienation Of Affections Law. Basically considered the Home-wrecker Law.
Robert Kevin Howard sued his ex-wife’s lover under the law and won $750,000.
The law states that spouse can sue another person, normally the person who the spouse cheated with, for purposely interfering with the marital relationship.
In order to win a case like this, you have to prove that you were happily married before the home wrecker interfered with your marriage.
It used to be used to keep the wanting of marriage. It’s a very good thing more states don’t have this law.
