The world was completely stunned yesterday when it was announced that Kobe Bryant died following a helicopter crash. His 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, and seven others were also on board. The crash occurred in the Calabasas area of California. The helicopter was reportedly on its way to a basketball game at the Mamba Academy that Gianna was set to play in.
Bryant will forever be regarded as an NBA legend who played all 20 of his seasons in LA with the Lakers. Among his impressive accomplishments are five NBA titles, a MVP and 2x Finals MVP, 18x all-star and being named to 11 All-NBA First Teams. The Lakers’ next home game at STAPLES Center is against the hometown rival Clippers tomorrow night. Many figured how fans in the arena and players on both teams would be able to play in this game from an emotional aspect.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Clippers-Lakers has officially been postponed. This was a solid move by the NBA. It was hard enough for players to continue on with the scheduled games yesterday. Everyone deserves to grieve in their own way. It’s still so surreal that we lost a legend in Kobe so soon. Prayers go out to his family and friends along with the others on board who lost their lives in the crash.
