Patriots Safety, Patrick Chung, has been dealing with a felony drug case since last summer after being caught with cocaine at his New Hampshire home. He originally plead not guilty at a court hearing back in August but now, he’s reached a deal with prosecutors to avoid jail time.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Chung has to stay out of trouble for two years, agree to random drug tests and do 40 hours of community service. He was originally facing seven years in prison. Prosecutors viewed Chung in a favorable light in this case and that’s why no jail time was required. They say that he has a clean record, no previous run-ins with police, and the amount of coke they found at his house was very small.
Chung totaled 38 tackles in the 2019 season. In the Patriots’ wildcard loss to the Titans at home, he left the game and didn’t return as he suffered an ankle injury. Flip the page for the legal documents announcing the charges against Chung being dropped.
