Skip Bayless is no stranger to hot takes and controversial opinions, so he didn’t hesitate when restarting the popular conspiracy theory that Jordan’s first retirement from basketball in 1993 had to do with gambling.
On “Undisputed” Bayless, who was a lead writer at the Chicago Tribune in 1998 and covered the Bulls, said that he always heard from people that the reason Jordan stepped away from the NBA in 1993 had “everything to do with gambling.”
Bayless has long been a proponent of Jordan being the greatest basketball player of all time over LeBron James, so this likely isn’t a story just to take a shot at Jordan, but just what Bayless gathered from being around the Bulls when he was a respected journalist.
