Lakers GM Rob Pelinka recalled how the late Kobe Bryant voice was in his head giving him wisdom and motivation.
ESPN reported “After the Los Angeles Lakers returned to the top by winning the franchise’s 17th championship Sunday night, Pelinka looked toward the ceiling during his post-game interview session and got emotional thinking about his best friend.
Pelinka nevertheless stated the obvious in his media interview with high emotions.
“I guess you were right, man. You give me the energy to do it.”
What makes this championship run so special is due to the Los Angeles Lakers returning to its glory. Missing the playoffs for six straight years and finally capturing that trophy is a testament to Pelinka’s greatness and those in the front office who trusted the process.
Pelinka also mentioned both Bryant and his daughter Giannia who would’ve been proud to see this moment.
“And I think Kobe and Gianna have guided this team the entire year. Kobe’s voice is always in my head, always, every day, every minute. And I think to be able to — for LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Coach Frank vogel, myself and for Jeanie Buss, for us to be able to win this championship doesn’t take away the sting of the loss, but what it does is it helps us add to their legacy.”
